Introduction

Loci collects and uses your data to provide a personalized and secure study experience. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and what your rights are.

Data we collect

  • Account information: name and email (via signup, Google, or Apple)
  • Nickname and study area (set during onboarding)
  • Study sessions: date, duration, and cards reviewed
  • Time spent per card and confidence rating (1 to 5)
  • Push notification token (for review reminders)
  • Active plan and subscription history (processed by Stripe)
  • Access origin (UTM/referral)
  • Date of birth and gender (optional, provided in your profile)
  • Device language, country, and time zone
  • Content you create: subjects, decks, flashcards, and exam notes
  • Materials you upload to generate cards or summaries (text, PDF, or photo)

How we use your data

  • Personalize your study experience
  • Calculate the optimal review time (SM-2 algorithm)
  • Send review and weekly summary notifications
  • Improve the product based on aggregated usage patterns

AI-generated content

When you generate flashcards or summaries automatically, the text, PDF, or photo you upload is processed by the Anthropic API (Claude) to produce the questions and answers. That content is used only to fulfill your request and, under Anthropic's commercial terms, is not used to train models.

If you would rather a given material not go through this processing, create the cards manually.

Data sharing

We do not sell your data to third parties.

  • Supabase: secure data storage
  • Stripe: payment processing (we do not access card data)
  • Brevo: transactional emails
  • Expo: push notifications
  • Anthropic: processing of materials uploaded for AI card and summary generation

Your rights

  • Access, correct, or delete your data at any time
  • Revoke notification consent in the app settings
  • Request full account deletion in Settings → Delete account

Security

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest via Supabase, with access controlled by authentication and security policies.
